TIME honors protein designer David Baker
The magazine’s inaugural TIME100 Health list profiles 100 of the world’s most influential figures in health fields and biomedical sciences. Baker is a professor of biochemistry at the UW School of Medicine and director of the UW Medicine Institute of Protein Design.
Studying ice age climate data to better understand future temps
UW researchers did a detailed reconstruction of climate during the most recent ice age — when a large swath of North America was covered in ice — to better understand how rising levels of carbon dioxide will affect future temperatures.
UW No. 3 for Peace Corps volunteers
The Peace Corps announced that the University of Washington is again No. 3 on a list of top volunteer-producing institutions over the past two decades. The UW has graduated more than 2,300 students who have gone on to service opportunities abroad as volunteers.
